Can I vacuum the tatami mats?
If you use a vacuum cleaner too strong, it will damage the tatami surface, so please apply it lightly and slowly along the grain of the tatami mats.
Is it best to wipe with a dry cloth?

Mold grew during the rainy season. How can I get rid of it ?

Wipe the tatami surface dry before use.
The newly refurbished tatami surface has been subjected to mud dyeing to protect the grass. Since the color may look uneven and mud (like white powder) may stick to the clothes, the new tatami mats should first be wiped dry to remove the mud before use.
Avoid moisture and dryness.
The tatami table has a humidity control function. This is one of the great attractions of tatami mats, but try to avoid using them in humid places, or conversely, in places where they are very dry. Also, if you put a carpet on top of the tatami mats, it will interfere with the breathing of the tatami mats. It can also cause mold and mites, so please leave the tatami mats as they are.
Frequent cleaning is the best!
The vacuum cleaner is gently and slowly along the eyes of the tatami surface. Clean the gaps and underneath of the tatami mats. When dirt is attached, wipe it dry, and use a brush to gently scrub off dirt that gets into the eyes of the tatami surface.
Avoid moisture first for storage.
For storage of tatami mats, a dark place with low humidity is suitable. Before storing, dry the tatami mats in the shade thoroughly to remove dirt. When storing, it is recommended to keep a dehumidifier on the table.

How to take care of the tatami mats using plastic for tatami surface, like a SEKISUI MIGUSA.
■ Please take regular care of plastic tatami mats on a daily basis before they become
dirty and stick. Use a soft towel slightly dampened with water and wipe gently. If
it is significantly dirty, dissolve a mild detergent in warm water and gently wipe
it off with a soft towel. If moisture remains on the surface after wiping it off,
mold may occur, so please dry it.
■ It can be cleaned with commonly used stain removers, disinfectants, and
deodorants.
